the rubicon bag

this toook soooooo long!
This project is made from soda cans, all rubicon, i love the bright colors, also, bit of a fruit obsessive, so love rubicon.
the noise it makes is a little annoying, but i dont mind coz i love how it looks.

the white canvas is from an old (and broken) canvas wardrobe, the straps came on some blankets, so SUPER recycled/reused

heres a closer look for the details, the stitching isnt perfect, but this project was a PAIN in the ARSE!
ewing the cans greatly displeased my sewing machine and it got mad!

i was never really 100% sure what i was doing with this project which led to stupid mistakes, like not sewing the handles on before i started attaching the cans, thus the straps had to be hand stitched.

..had been collecting these cans for over a year.. i think the reason it took me so long is that there where so many unknowns i just kept putting it off...

anyway yeh, DONE! .. winning!

oh hai cuties!

BAH! i wish i could let you feel how soft it is.. anyway, this is big 'un...

and this is little 'un :)

i had one ball of this wool, and after i finished big 'un, i just had a lil bit left, a silly amount i couldnt really do anything with, and thus, little 'un came into being. I only JUST made it, there was NO wool left.
Big 'un is about 23 cm and the little 'un is about 14 cm they have beanie bums so there bottom heavy and actually stand up... sometimes!
and this is why i ACTUALLY made them, this wool was just SO soft, and i wanted to make something that could be clutched tightly in hand.... ahem.. you know to fully appreciate the softness.. SHH yes, i am a giant toddler :S

culinary delights.. some not so delightful...

so here a quick catch up on some of my cooking..

DELIGHT!
my friend helen and i got our cook on as we often do and made this little feast, yes we even made bread.. we're just that bad ass!

NOT SO DELIGHTFUL
when i was little, i knew a woman who made THE best banana bread, it was amazing, i have been chasing that banana bread for years, this is another not very nice banana bread...

DELIGHT!
i got really obsessed with peanut butter cups after my New York trip and then months later stumbled on to a recipe for how to make them, they are SO GOOD!

NOT SO DELIGHTFUL..
my first attempt at focaccia.. where i read the ingredients wrong.. opps!

DELIGHTFUL!
my second attempt was pretty damn good!

DELIGHT
this was so tatsy! marinated my cherry tomatoes in herbs a little oil and some honey then whacked them into some pesto pasta and had some fresh home baked focaccia, defiantly a delight :)

SOME DELIGHTS SOME NOT SO MUCH!
...this was my big cooking day...
fruit leather on both saucepans on left, chicken broth and cheese sauce on the right
the top eft is plum fruit leather and it was waaaaay too tart, not very nice at all, the lower pan was blueberry and apple, and that was delicious!

the chicken broth was a god send as i'd been feeling unwell and cheese sauce is always good!
..here are all the recipes i was following..

some fruit leather
my soup all packaged up into portions with home baked rolls.. WINNING!

DELIGHT!
i made these little mini victoria sponge cupcakes, and of course being me, they had to be died funny colors :l
and yeh, more cup cakes!

uni end times

so here is my section of space at our final exhibition...
Having chosen to focus purely on skating i decided my presentation too had to have further visual reference to skating... so my brother whacked these out for me to my specs...
(here he is doing some off cut art)
so here are my boards after our long ass train journey. heavier than they looked :l
aaaaaaand here is me looking pretty tiered with my experiments in types of paper, coating/varnishes AND SO ON!
anyway, so heres a closer look at what i ended up with.. i do rather enjoy my hanging portfolio display.. and the image tat crosses two boards..
the shoes ended up coming off after a few hours..
we also had to set up the same show in a completely different space, this is what it looked like there..
really liked the idea of having the boards hanging but perhaps could have gone about it in a better way... hmmm!
anyway, so that was my final uni degree show..

time to play catch up

ok so after almost 8 months of not posting, FAIL on my part, im gonna do a bit of catching up. i have been making was just insanely busy with uni and then life once uni finished uni (UNI IS OVER! AHHHH!), so i'll just share with you the best bits/my fave bits of the last 8 months of crafting,

melted hearts

this drove me INSANE...

'u melt wax crayons down and then cut them into heart shapes'.. yeh.. it sounds SOOOO simple.. and easy.. and like a gd idea..
ITS NOT!!! they kept breaking.. lols.. i kept breaking my hearts.. jeeez.. clearly its time for bed coz im talking crap!
anyway, the reason i started making them was coz i want to cover the bottom of my window as, as u can see below, i have done on my other window. reason being i live on the ground floor, my bedrrom overlooks the street and my bed is right next to the wondow.. means i cant be in bed with the blinds open.. blinds open mean sunshine, and that means smiley ella.. she is A LOT more pleasant than miserable bitch ella.. but anyway yeh hearts where too much hassle, so i gave up after these ones, FORGET doing a WHOLE window of them..

any ho, here is one last picture of the hearts, i like the way the light comes through them in this one..

and GOODNIGHT!

x

so this very lovely lady taught me how to make this awesome fabric jewelry heres my first one.
This one is quite long and thick (teeheehee, yes i am that imature) so i use it as a head band.. and i loooooooove it
so i invited her to our society to teach the girls how to make them :) and here wat i got...
the first i just wear as a single
and the second i knotted, liiiike this...
anyho, i then went bow CRAZY.. so here they are...
