jamie's scarf

my friend jamie (who i made the blanket for for xmas) had been asking me for a scarf for a while and i decided his birthday would be a perfect time to get on with that.
Raided the stash, opted for some BEAUTIFUL 'lagoon' homespun, used 'pesto' homespun for details
so for the first pocket, the shape was inspired by a dream catcher..
...jb are of course his initials...
above is just to give u a sense of scale, my phone isnt small, this is a big un! the pockets are purely for hand warmage and thus the scarf needed to be long to be hand height (with a wrap round the neck), hes pretty tall.
Haven't got a picture of him wearing it, so here is one of me...
in all honesty i found it pretty damn hard to give this one up, it felt so amazingly soft and lovely and the color, the color is just so beautiful..

mums LATE xmas pressie

so here is my mums finished xmas present (im still playing catch up so actaully it was finished early january!)

i realized once i had already done quite a lot of it that this was very much the WRONG kind of yarn for this pattern, the yarn itself was too complicated.

the pattern doesnt propery show case how beautiful the yarn is, and the yarn doesnt let the pattern show how awesome it is.

i think i will have to try this pattern again with simple yarn
(knitted with homespun ones mixed berries and err? forgotten, all from the nyc stash!)
here are some 'this-is-wat-it-looks-like-on-people' shots, coz my mums away she hasnt even seen it yet, let alone tried it on :(

still playing catch up; xmas makes

this was a bit of lol i had with the brownies, they where making xmas stocking and i just couldn't resist, i had to make one too :)

ANYHOCH, here is the only other gift i managed to finish BEFORE xmas... although strictly speaking i was still sewing this on xmas day... i wrapped it unfinished and then sat and finished it on xmas eve whilst we chilled..

finished AT LAST!
one very happy (i hope) guy

Monday 21 February 2011

so there i was, knitting constantly...

...when this happened...
and i was VERY put off by this monstrosity that had jumped off my needles.. so i gave up on knitting for a while..

stumbled across a flower making tutorial and despite the fact i am NOT a flowery person, i became OBSESSED!

i didnt really want to attach them to anything of mine (not being a flowery person) so i decided to make them into broaches..

they make really nice gifts...

sami's hood scarf

pretty much as soon as i got bak from NY i started working on this project for sami
but i did actually get to see her until xmas, so it became her xmas present...
and here she is all snuggled in it :)

NY is bad for ur wallet but good for you stash!

the most amazing yarn shop i've ever been to, is DEFIANTLY the lion brand studio in nyc, the staff where lovely and help full, the yarn was beautiful and affordable, i was one happy bunny :)
'lagoon' (picked up another of these later on)

'waterfall'

'pesto'

(picked up some more of this stuff at another shop too)

'mixed berries'

i think the ones below where from school house yarn..

ok so thats all the stuff i have photos of, there is actually more :S but i think its just more homespun.. and oh crap its 1.15 am, DAMN!
